Artificial Intelligence Ethics Policy
Purpose and Foundation
Adopted 1.13.26
This policy outlines Morningstar Partners LLC’s (MSP) approach to integrating artificial intelligence tools into our consulting practice while maintaining the ethical standards and human-centered values that define our work.
Core Values
Our work is grounded in MSP's core values:
-
Reputation is earned through results – We’re only as good as our clients’ success. Our reputation is built one engagement at a time, measured by outcomes that endure—not promises or presentations.
-
We stay with you – Partnership doesn’t end at delivery. We remain invested in helping our work take root, supporting implementation and long-term impact well beyond the formal engagement.
-
Results matter ...and so does how you get there – You’re accountable for delivering results, and so are we. Our focus is helping you surpass your objectives while building sustainable systems and capacity—not short-term wins.
-
Strategy must be usable – Big ideas fail when they ignore operational reality. We translate vision into practical, executable strategies aligned with the people, resources, and culture you actually have.
-
We tell the truth ...with a path forward – Leaders deserve clarity, not platitudes. We speak candidly about what’s working, what isn’t, and why—always with constructive, achievable pathways toward progress.
These principles inform every decision we make about when, how, and why to incorporate AI into our professional practice.
AI-Specific Commitments
In our use of artificial intelligence, we prioritize the following values: fairness, responsibility, explicability. These commitments ensure that AI enhances rather than compromises the quality and integrity of our work.
Guiding Principles
Our AI use is governed by these key principles:
• Human Oversight
• Ethical Sourcing
• Data Security
These principles create a framework for responsible AI integration that respects both client needs and professional standards.
Non-Negotiable Boundaries
Certain boundaries define where AI use ends and human expertise must take precedence: Never using AI to make final, unreviewed decisions that directly impact clients; Will not use AI for legal, financial, or ethical advice without independent professional verification; Will not present AI-generated content as purely human-created without clear and appropriate disclosure; Will not delegate critical strategic planning or evaluation design entirely to AI.
Additional practice-specific boundaries: We will not let AI form the nugget of an idea or thought— it starts with human intellect and then AI can help validate, augment, refine, or redirect that thought.
These boundaries protect both client interests and professional integrity.
Commitment to Growth
This dynamic policy represents our current understanding and will evolve as both AI technology and our expertise develop. We commit to regular review, ongoing education, and adaptation of these guidelines to ensure they continue serving our clients and community effectively.
This policy reflects our commitment to ethical, transparent, and responsible AI use in service of meaningful social sector work.
